Well we have reached my top selection on the list of breakout players in the upcoming NBA Season. All five players will make big impacts on their team but this is the player that will make the biggest. At the top spot though we have a player that will make the largest jump in terms of performance and playing time this season. If he can stay free from injury unlike last year, Andre Drummond of the Detroit Pistons will be the biggest breakout player in the NBA next season.

After being drafted 9th overall by Detroit in the 2012 NBA Draft, the biggest question was not how he would adjust physically but how he would adjust in terms of age as he was only 18 years old. Drummond however as a very young player proved everyone wrong by putting together a very productive season in the games he played. In the 60 games he played in last season, Drummond put together 7.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks in 20.1 minutes each night. His 6'10'', 270 lbs. body alone created a dominant presence down low and showed he is smart enough to produce efficient numbers whenever he stepped onto the court. His season was limited because of a back injury, but we got a very good preview of what was to come of Drummond in the future.

That preview got even better this summer when he absolutely dominated the summer league averaging 15.5 points and 14.8 rebounds per contest. He also participated in Team USA scrimmages and workouts which put his name on the map in a lot of people's eyes. This summer has showed us that a healthy Drummond is a very scary Drummond, especially with the fact that he is playing along side growing star Greg Monroe. He has already shown that he can be a defensive anchor and someone who can grab boards pretty much whenever he chooses.

The best part about Drummond is that he is only 19 years of age. What we are seeing is still raw talent that has tons of time to reach its full potential. Leadership is still something that is unknown for Drummond, but for a guy his age it is not something we can expect so early. This season I expect Andre to put up big numbers though and maybe even squeeze into an All-Star spot. It will be difficult but if there is any player posed to have a breakout season as big as this guy is, Drummond would be the guy to get it done.
